Day 7 - 24th April - Tizi-n-Tinifift!

Leaving the 'Le Soleil Bleu' Hotel at 6am prompt, we headed straight to a renowned site in search for the Moroccan race of Pied Wagtail. No sooner had we got out of the car, I spotted a candidate and over the next 10 mintues, the bird showed exceptionally well!

We still hadn't connected with the elusive Mourning Wheatear so we made 3 stops en-route but sadly we weren't rewarded despite a thorough search at each site.

Stoppong at a large reservoir before the Tizi-n-Tinifift pass, we managed to see several Blue-Cheeked Bee-Eaters, Great White Egret, Purple Heron, Squacco Heron and Little Bittern.

Stopping en-route we called in at the Tizi-n-Tinifift pass for African Rock Martin. These birds abundant at this site with at least 10 birds seen and which gave exceptional views with one particular bird perching on the ground right below us some 5ft away. Alpine Swift and Little Swift as well as Crag Martin were also seen here in good numbers.

A spectacular find was a secluded valley where we had great views of Golden Eagle and a pair of Bonelli's Eagle displaying at close quarters. Time was getting tight now so we headed for the nearest hotel being the 'Auberge Taulouine'. Here we had a surprise visit from the Moroccan race Tawny owl..
